Julia Fullerton-Batten
I’ve been completely taken by this woman’s gorgeous photographs. So imaginative, wonderful. I wish that I had the technical know-how, and even the imagination in general, to make photos like these!

Arty stuff
Sarah Maple’s images of muslim women are causing quite a stir. The practicing Muslim woman has put up an exhibit at a gallery at SaLon Gallery in London and it’s not been so well received by everyone. Other Muslims have labelled her work as insulting, but she says they are more of a journey of self-exploration of her religion and personal life.
In other news, the 2008 Paris Photo is opening this weekend. It sure makes me wish that I lived closeby so I could go and see all the beautiful work. It makes me really happy to go to galleries and see other people art and photos. It really gives me new perspective on the world and reminds me how we all see things a little bit differently.
Eggleston Retrospective at the Whitney
Guess what, guys… the Whitney Museum in fabulous New York City is hosting a giant Eggleston retrospective. It opens on November 7th and will run until January 25, 2009.
So exactly why should we care about Eggleston? He’s one of the great photographers who changed the way people define a picture, and he did it all using colour, which is NOT what self-respecting photographers used back then.
If you happen to be in the area, check out the exhibit, but if not, there are tons of places online where you can read more about William Eggleston and the way he revolutionised the world of photography.
